Excerpts from Introduction by Michael A. Cremo
Today most
archeologists and other scientists believe that humans like us first
appeared on this planet less than 300,000 years ago.
However, the scientific literature of the past two centuries contains
many reports of geologists and archeologists finding human bones, human
artifacts, and human footprints going much further back in time. How
extreme could human antiquity possibly be? It could be many millions,
perhaps hundreds of millions, of years. This would be consistent with
the accounts of extreme human antiquity found in the Puranas, the
cosmological texts of ancient India, and the records of other wisdom
traditions. Fortunately, there are a few researchers who are looking
for such evidence. In my book Forbidden
Archeology, coauthored with Richard L. Thompson, I documented
archeological evidence for extreme human antiquity. These discoveries
showed that humans like us existed on earth millions of years ago. In Extreme Human Antiquity, I add many new cases to the original body
of evidence .
